Workshop on The Art of Crafting a Movie trailor by Arena North Karachi:

Recently Arena Multimedia North Karachi Branch organized an eye opening workshop on “The art of crafting a Movie Trailer” of Kashif Ghani Syed (Media Specialist) at Thursday 3 Dec, 09.

He explained that how much movie trailers are important for the marketing of movie. Trailers or previews are film advertisements for feature films that will be exhibited in the future at a cinema. A big-budget movie trailers require an orchestra and hours at an editing bay, but any aspiring filmmaker can make a trailer to their movie, regardless of the amount and if you have good editing software, a creative mind and a great movie to work with than make a movie trailer that'll advertise your film and expose it to a wider audience.

The entire guests took so much interest in that topic. He gave so effective information for those all parts which are the main elements while making a good movie trailer like music, cast and crew, studio information and as well as technical elements.

He showed so many trailers as an example which gave the clear concepts to all audience. He defined that the best trailer pulls the viewer into the movie's plot and characters without giving away too much. Comedy trailers like "Borat" or "The Simpsons' Movie" for how to use the best bits from a funny movie without revealing the plot. For dramas or Indies, look at the classy and haunting images and music in the trailer for "Requiem for a Dream."

Than secondly he discussed about some important tips for story boarding that we can sketch or either can use editing software. He also explained some technical elements of a film trailer like sound mixing, video resolution and graphics.

In the end we had a session of questions and answers in which students asked so many questions. Well it was a very effective workshop and gave the clear and useful concepts to all students. So it will definitely help them out in their final projects and assignments.
